SUNY Schools in the City - Recommendations?

Long story short, I'm looking at colleges and specifically want to stay in the city for my higher education. I know there's a bunch of SUNY schools in and around NYC, but having a bit of a hard time narrowing my choice. Anybody here attend or research these schools that might have some recommendations or insights? Thanks in advance!

Absolutely, there are a few SUNY schools in the NYC area and each is unique in its offerings and environment, so it'll be key to align your goals and interests with each school's advantages.

Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) could be an excellent choice if you're interested in subjects related to art, design, business, or technology. This school is renowned for its strong programs in fashion and interior design, advertising and marketing, and other art/design-oriented degrees.

You might want to look at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University if you're considering a career in the health sciences. It offers a wide range of programs in fields like nursing, public health, and medicine. Worth noting, undergraduate entry is only for the College of Nursing and the School of Health Professions; their College of Medicine is a graduate program.

Another option is SUNY Empire State College, which has numerous study centers in NYC and offers a very flexible curriculum primarily designed for adult learners or non-traditional students, with online, independent study, and face-to-face learning options available.

These are just a few examples. Remember, narrowing down your choices often comes down to specific academic goals, course preferences, and what you're hoping to get from the college environment. Consider visiting these campuses, if possible, to get a better feel for their vibe and logistics. You should also check the specific programs, support services, internship, and employment opportunities of each school. Good luck in your college search process!
