Getting into College of Charleston

I've been considering the College of Charleston and was wondering about their GPA requirements. Do they look at unweighted or weighted GPA, and do they consider class rigor?

While every college varies in their GPA requirements, the College of Charleston generally accepts students with a GPA that falls between 3.8 to 4.4 on a weighted scale. This indicates that they are looking at the weighted GPA, which takes into account any Honors, AP, or IB classes you might have taken.

As for class rigor, it is definitely considered by the admissions officers at the College of Charleston. Selective colleges generally prefer to see students who have challenged themselves with rigorous coursework, and AP, IB, or Honors classes certainly count as such. These courses demonstrate readiness for college-level work and differentiate students in the applicant pool.

Remember, though, that while GPA and course rigor are important, they are not the only factors considered during the admissions process. Extracurricular involvement, letters of recommendation, personal essays, and more are also key components of a well-rounded application. Best of luck as you work on your application!
