How do I convert my SAT score to ACT?

I've taken both the SAT and ACT, but some of the colleges on my list prefer the ACT. Problem is, I did better on my SAT. So, is there a way to convert my SAT score to an equivalent ACT score? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Sure, you can absolutely convert your SAT score to an equivalent ACT score! Educational Testing Service (ETS), the organization that designs the SAT, provides a concordance table that equates SAT scores with their ACT counterparts. While these conversions aren't a perfect science, they can provide a rough estimate of what your SAT score might look like as an ACT score, and vice versa.

The purpose of this table is to give schools a way to compare scores from both tests on an even playing field, so you don't have to worry about your SAT score being disadvantaged, even if these colleges prefer the ACT.

That being said, it's important to note that universities interpret these scores in various ways. Each college has its own holistic admissions process, and while standardized test scores are a part of that, they're usually not the be-all and end-all of your application.

So, while it's helpful to understand your equivalent ACT score, don't stress too much about it. Instead, focus on presenting the best possible application overall, which includes your grades, coursework, essays, and extracurricular activities, in addition to your test scores.
