No Application Fee—Any Colleges That Are Free To Apply?

I'm trying to apply to as many colleges as I can, and application fees are becoming a bit heavy on my budget. Does anyone know a list of colleges that are free to apply? It would be a great help. Gracias in advance!

There are many colleges that you can apply to without needing to spend on application fees. Here are a few prominent ones:

1. Tulane University: Tulane charges no fees, and it's also one the top universities in the South.

2. Reed College: Known for its strong programs in the humanities and sciences, this Oregon college is also free to apply to.

3. Smith College: Located in Massachusetts, Smith is one of the Seven Sisters colleges and encourages prospective students to apply for free.

4. Oberlin College: Oberlin, in Ohio, is renowned for its College of Arts and Sciences and its Conservatory of Music, and doesn't require an application fee.

5. Grinnell College: With strong social justice roots, Grinnell, located in Iowa, doesn't charge an application fee either.

6. United States service academies: These colleges, including the United States Naval Academy, West Point, the Air Force Academy et al., have no application fee.

Note that this is only a small sample. Many colleges offer no application fee, especially if you apply online. Check the college's official website to be sure.

Also, if you're eligible for specific forms of need-based aid, such as free or reduced-price lunches at your high school, you may qualify for application fee waivers even for colleges that typically charge application fees. It's always worth reaching out to the college's admissions office if you're having trouble affording the application fee. They are often willing to help in whatever way they can.
