SAT Score Check—Columbia Edition

Howdy, y'all! I'm in the middle of some intense SAT prep and Columbia's high on my list of 'enter-the-dreamland' schools. Does anyone know what the average SAT score for Columbia is? Knowing that could really help me understand what I need to aim for. Cheers!

Hello! For the 2024-2025 admission cycle, Columbia University has decided to continue its test-optional policy. This means that Columbia will not require you to submit your SAT scores as part of the application. The decision was made to ensure a fair and holistic review process, especially for students who may have had limited access to the test due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

However, if you still choose to submit your SAT scores, recently admitted Columbia students usually have an SAT score somewhere within the range of 1500-1560. Remember that this represents a middle 50% range, meaning 25% of admitted students have scores above this range and 25% have scores below it. But remember, these are not cut-off scores. Admissions are holistic, and they take into account various factors like your academic performance, essays, recommendations, extracurricular activities, and more.

Best of luck with your preparation and application!
