FSU admissions process?

Hey y'all, I've been sort of eyeing FSU and was wondering if anyone could offer their two cents on the admissions process. Is it very competitive? Any tips or advice would be much appreciated!

Florida State University (FSU) has a competitive admissions process. In recent years, they've admitted around 25% of applicants. It's important to remember, however, that these statistics can fluctuate.

Getting into FSU requires a strong academic record. Much like many other colleges, FSU considers GPA to be a key component in assessing applicants. As of recent data, the average high school GPA for incoming freshmen is around 3.72 (unweighted) and 4.26 (weighted). If you have a lower GPA, improve your competitiveness by showcasing that you've taken challenging courses.

Beyond academics, FSU also considers your involvement in extracurricular activities, as it gives them a sense of your interests and passions outside the classroom. They are looking for students who would bring unique perspectives and contributions to the campus community, so it's important to clearly communicate your accomplishments in your application.

As part of your application, FSU requires you to submit a personal statement. FSU uses this essay to better understand your personality, values, and motivations. Be sure to give yourself ample time to write, revise, and perfect this essay. It can be a great opportunity to show FSU what makes you a unique and valuable addition to their community. Avoid cliché topics and focus on what makes you special; the admissions officers want to understand who you are as a person, not just as a student.

Last but not least, another factor to look at for FSU is your SAT or ACT score. FSU requires applicants to send in a test score, as of the most recent data, the middle 50% range for admitted student SAT scores is 1360 - 1470 and for ACT scores it is 30 - 33.

Just as a broad suggestion, be authentic and let your individuality show in your application in all aspects, including your essays or your extracurricular activities. Good luck with your application!
