Help with Univ. of North Carolina at Chapel Hill admission requirements?

Hey there, prospective Tar Heel here! I'm trying my best to find info on UNC Chapel Hill's admission requirements? Anyone know what their average accepted GPA is, or what type of stuff they're looking for aside from good grades? All info is much appreciated. Thank you!

UNC Chapel Hill has a very competitive admissions process, heavily based on student's grades and course rigor. For the class of 2024, the average GPA for admitted students was about a 4.39. Keep in mind that this is a weighted GPA, so it takes into account the difficulty of the classes you take. Therefore, taking a rigorous course load and earning strong grades is key.

Beyond grades, UNC Chapel Hill values involvement in extracurricular activities. Admissions officers want to see passion and commitment in the activities students participate in outside of academics. In terms of the role of extracurriculars, UNC, like many selective universities, uses a system called 'tiers of extracurriculars' to classify the level of achievement students exhibit in their activities. Some of the factors considered in this evaluation include leadership roles, length and dedication of involvement, and level of achievement. The higher the tier of your extracurriculars, the greater the impact on your application.

Additionally, UNC Chapel Hill places significant importance on the essays provided in the application. A strong essay can help an admissions officer connect with you on a personal level, offering insights into your character and experiences that grades and test scores can't show. For your essays, focus on your unique experiences or insights and how they have shaped who you are. Remember to make your essay personal, engaging, and reflective of you as an individual. And don't forget to spell check and proofread!

Lastly, UNC Chapel Hill still remains test-optional for the 2024-2025 application cycle, which means you are not required to submit SAT or ACT scores as part of your application. However, if you have strong test scores, they can still help enhance your application.

Remember that while these aspects are key components of the admissions process, each application is evaluated in its entirety. Best of luck as you navigate the admissions process!
