Curious About UoM Acceptance Rates

Hello everyone! I'm a junior right now and I'm seriously considering the University of Michigan as one of my top picks. I'm curious about their acceptance rates though. What does a typical admitted student look like at UoM? Any info will help!

The University of Michigan (UMich) is a fairly selective school with an acceptance rate of approximately 18% for the 2023-2024 academic year. Bear in mind the rates can fluctuate slightly each year.

Admitted students generally have strong academic records. The middle 50% range for the ACT scores of admitted students is usually around 32-34, and the SAT Middle 50% range is around 1380-1540. Keep in mind that these are the middle 50% ranges, meaning 25% of admitted students score below these ranges and 25% score above.

As of the 2024-2025 application cycle, UMich is no longer requiring all applicants to submit an SAT or ACT score. They are still practicing test-optional admissions like they did in the previous cycle.

Regarding GPA, while UMich doesn't release official statistics, it's known that the typical admitted student usually has an unweighted GPA above 3.9.

When it comes to extracurriculars, while there isn't a set criteria, UMich typically looks for students who exhibit leadership, dedication, and passion within their chosen extracurricular activities.

Remember that these statistics are just averages and do not guarantee acceptance or rejection. Your application will also heavily depend on your essays and letters of recommendation, which can sometimes be deciding factors.

Is there anything else you would like to know about UMich's admissions process?
