Are there Mandatory SAT Scores for University of Maryland?

Hi, Anyone has useful insights about the SAT scores that UMD is looking for? I've heard conflicting suggestions and I'm not really sure now what they expect. Feel free to share any experiences or thoughts, thanks!

As of the 2024-2025 application cycle, the University of Maryland (UMD) is test-optional for admissions. This means that UMD does not require SAT or ACT scores to be submitted with an application. The decision to go test-optional was prompted by the changes in standardized testing availability during the COVID-19 pandemic, but as of this year, UMD has decided to continue with this policy.

While applicants are welcome to submit test scores if they believe these scores accurately showcase their academic ability, it's not a requirement. UMD will evaluate applications holistically, taking into account components like your high school transcript, extracurricular activities, essays, and letters of recommendation.

If your scores are strong relative to the rest of your application, it might be beneficial to include them, but if not, your application won't be disadvantaged by omitting them.
