Problems with understanding SAT scores

Hey everyone. So, I've just taken my SAT and I have my score, but honestly, I've no clue how they've come to that number. Does someone know how to figure the SAT score, or could you point me towards some useful resources? Thanks!

Absolutely, it's definitely important to understand how your SAT score was calculated.

The SAT has two main sections: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW), and Math. Let's break down both:

1) Evidence-Based Reading and Writing: This section further splits into Reading Test and Writing and Language Test. Each of them is measured on a scale of 10 to 40. The scores from these two tests are combined and then multiplied by 10 to get you the final EBRW score which falls between 200 and 800.

2) Math: The Math section is divided into two modules where the calculator is allowed for both. Each of the questions holds the same weight and the raw score, which is simply the number of questions you answered correctly, is converted to a scaled score between 200 to 800.

To get the final SAT score, your scores from the EBRW and Math sections are added together. The sum is the total score and can range from 400 to 1600, with 1600 being a perfect score.

Also, remember that there's no penalty for incorrect answers on the SAT, so it's always worth taking a guess if you're not sure.

Unfortunately, the College Board does not offer a detailed per-question breakdown of your score. While they will provide you with your raw scores (the number of questions you got right) for each section, they don't provide any insights into which specific questions you answered incorrectly.

What you can do is review the digital SAT using Bluebook™ app, take a full-length practice test, and then review any questions you got wrong. This can help you pinpoint any patterns in the types of questions you're missing and can be a highly effective way to study for your next try.

I hope this helps clear up your confusion about the SAT scoring!
