Max TOEFL Score?

I'm working on my TOEFL prep and was wondering, what's the maximum score you can get on the test? And also, what's typically considered a 'good' score by most colleges?

The maximum score you can achieve on the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) examination is 120. The test is divided into four sections: Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing, each of which is scored on a scale of 0 to 30. The scores from these four sections are added together to produce your total score.

As for what's considered a 'good' score, it can somewhat vary based on the specific institutions and programs you are applying to. However, many universities in the United States usually require a minimum TOEFL score in the range of 70-100. Highly selective colleges often look for scores above 100, with some even suggesting an 'excellent' score as being over 110.

Of course, some programs and departments might have more stringent requirements than others, particularly those where English proficiency is essential such as English, Linguistics, or Journalism. Therefore, it's always a good idea to check the specific TOEFL requirements of the schools and programs you're interested in.
