Hey guys, just wondering if Stanford needs the SAT for admission? I've been hearing different things about test-optional policies because of COVID, so I'm not sure what's up. If anyone knows the real deal, please share. Thanks!
Stanford University continues to have a test-optional policy for the 2024-2025 application cycle. Under this policy, you have the choice of whether or not to submit your SAT (or ACT) scores with your application.
However, while submitting scores is not technically required, Stanford is one of the most selective schools in the world. At such institutions, you generally want to showcase your strengths in as many ways as possible, so for many students, submitting a test score is still a good idea. If you'd like to learn more about how to navigate test-optional policies, I'd check out this blog post from CollegeVine: https://blog.collegevine.com/does-test-optional-mean-test-optional/
Good luck with your application!
