Hey all! I will be taking the PSAT next fall and I want to start studying early. So, I was wondering what materials you guys recommend for studying. Any specific books, websites, or online resources that really worked for you? Thanks a ton!
There are several resources that can help you prepare for the PSAT. Make sure to utilize a blend of practice questions, strategy lessons, and full-length practice tests so that you become familiar with the format and content of the test itself, but also learn techniques to approach difficult questions more effectively.
Among books, "The Official SAT Study Guide" developed by the College Board is a great resource, as it provides authentic test questions and is updated every year to reflect the latest format and content. Although it's geared for the SAT, much of the content is applicable for the PSAT as well since they are similar in structure.
Studying online offers a lot of flexibility. Websites like Khan Academy have extensive free resources including PSAT/SAT prep materials. They partnered with The College Board to provide personalized SAT preparation based on your PSAT/NMSQT results, which is awesome!
Finally, the College Board offers a free app, The Bluebook™, that you can use to preview the digital PSAT and take a full-length practice test. This is especially useful if you want to simulate the real testing experience.
Remember to start studying early and consistently, assess your strengths and weaknesses and focus the majority of your study time on areas where you feel you need the most work. Fixing areas of weakness will yield the biggest score improvements.
Good luck! You're off to a great start by planning ahead and knowing the importance of utilizing prep materials.
