What's the ACT score needed to get into University of Florida?

Hey guys, University of Florida is on my list but I am not sure what ACT score they expect from their applicants. Can someone shed some light on this?

The University of Florida, a prominent public institution, typically accepts students with solid academic profiles. When it comes to ACT scores, while there isn't a strict minimum that guarantees admission, you should expect high levels of competition.

Looking at previous years' data, the middle 50% ACT score range for admitted students is approximately 28 to 33. This means that 50% of enrolled students achieved scores within this range. Keep in mind that it implies 25% scored below 28 and the other 25% scored above 33.

That being said, remember that your ACT score alone won't be the determining factor. University of Florida, like many universities, uses a holistic review process. This means that your course rigor, GPA, extracurriculars, and personal essays are all crucial components of your application. If your ACT score is a bit lower than their typical range, a strong application in other areas might counterbalance this.

However, if you're aiming for their more competitive programs or scholarships, you might consider striving for the upper end of that range, or even beyond. Doing well on the ACT can make you more competitive in the admissions process and also open up possibilities for merit-based aid.

One final note, the University of Florida has adopted a test-optional policy for the 2024-2025 application cycle due to the ongoing disruptions caused by COVID-19. You can decide whether you want to send your test scores or apply test-optional, based on what best reflects your academic abilities.
