Info on U.S. Air Force Academy admissions?

I'm pretty stressed right now, guys, could use some help. Anyone know what the United States Air Force Academy's admission requirements are? Been thinking about a military path post-graduation.

The U.S. Air Force Academy has a unique and rigorous application process that is unlike any civilian institution because it prepares and evaluates you for a career of service and leadership in the Air Force.

Firstly, applicants must meet certain eligibility requirements. You should be at least 17, but less than 23 years old by July 1st of the year you would enter the Academy. In addition, you should be a U.S. citizen, unmarried with no dependents, and in good physical condition.

Next, you will need to complete a pre-candidate questionnaire, which is a straightforward form that's used to screen potential candidates. If you pass the initial screening, you'll be invited to complete a candidate kit, which includes a full application, teacher evaluations, your school profile, and a lot of information about your extracurricular involvement and fitness.

Speaking of fitness, you'll be required to take the Candidate Fitness Assessment (CFA). The CFA is more comprehensive than typical physical education tests and will assess your physical potential for the Air Force Academy program. The test consists of six parts: basketball throw, pull-ups/flexed-arm hang, shuttle run, sit-ups, push-ups, and a one-mile run.

Your academic record is, of course, important as well. The Air Force Academy recommends a challenging high school curriculum, which includes four years of English, four years of college-preparatory math, four years of lab science, three years of social science, and two years of a foreign language.

Moreover, you'll need to achieve a nomination, typically from a U.S. Representative or Senator. These nominations are competitive and you should start the process as early as possible. There's an interview involved as well.

Last but not least, you'll have a medical examination managed by the Defense Medical Examination Review Board (DoDMERB). This ensures you meet the physical requirements of military service.

As you can tell, gaining acceptance to the U.S. Air Force Academy is a multi-step journey, but many find the process worthwhile for the strong education and career opportunities it offers. Wishing you the best of luck in your journey!
