Question about NU's average ACT score

Hey everyone! I've been working pretty hard to boost my ACT score and I'm curious about where I stand with regards to Northwestern. Does anybody know what the average ACT score for admitted students at Northwestern University is? Is this something they weigh heavily when reviewing applications? Any insight would be really appreciated.

The middle 50% ACT range for Northwestern University is typically listed as between 33 and 35. This means that 25% of admitted students scored below a 33, and another 25% scored above a 35.

While standardized test scores can offer admissions committees insight into your academic potential, especially in the context of your high school performance, they are just one piece of the puzzle. Northwestern also highly values factors like your GPA, course rigor, essays, letters of recommendation, and extracurricular involvement.

This information doesn't mean that an ACT score below 33 will result in an automatic rejection. There are certainly students who are accepted with scores below the middle 50% range. Similarly, a score above a 35 does not guarantee acceptance. For instance, a student could have done poorly in classes or might not have demonstrated commitment through deep involvement in extracurriculars, both of which would likely overshadow a high ACT score.

To summarize, if your ACT score falls within or above Northwestern's middle 50% range, that part of your application will likely be considered competitive. However, don't neglect other parts of your application either. Wow them with a strong demonstration of your character, passion, and interests through your essays and other materials. Good luck!
