What does an accepted Swarthmore College student profile generally include?

Swarthmore's caught my attention, and I'm curious about the accepted student profile. Do they mostly focus on grades, or are there specific extracurricular activities they value? Insight from admits or anyone in the know would be awesome!

Greetings! Swarthmore College, as with many selective liberal arts colleges, looks for students who have excelled academically within a rigorous high school curriculum. This generally means a combination of high grades and challenging courses (AP, IB, honors, etc.), reflective of your ability to thrive in their intellectually demanding environment.

In terms of extracurricular activities, while there is no one-size-fits-all profile, successful applicants often have a few extracurriculars in which they've shown significant investment and leadership. For example, a history of community service, a passion for research or the arts, or a leadership role in a school organization can be compelling. Swarthmore values intellectual curiosity and social responsibility, so activities that demonstrate these traits resonate well with their admissions philosophy.

I recommend visiting their official website and reviewing admissions profiles if available, as well as reaching out to the admissions office directly for the most current insight into what they value in their student body. Best of luck in your application!
