Does anyone know what SAT scores I'd need to hopefully lock in my spot at UC Irvine? I think it's my top choice right now. Would be grateful for any insights!
Starting with the 2024-2025 application cycle, the University of California system, including UC Irvine, became test-blind. This means that they do not consider SAT or ACT scores at all in their application review process. This policy change was driven by a deeper commitment to equitable admissions practices. So, while it was once common to aim for a particular SAT score to align with the median scores of admitted students at UC Irvine, this is no longer relevant or helpful.
On the UC application, you'll want to focus more on things like your course rigor, grades, essays, and extracurricular activities. These aspects will now carry more weight in their evaluation of your overall application.
Remember, it's advised to take the most challenging courses available to you and aim for high grades in these classes. Make sure your essays are deeply personal and reflect your authentic voice, while your extracurriculars should exhibit depth and commitment. Good luck with your application!
