ACT for UCLA admission?

Hey everyone! I'm starting to prep for my college application process, and I'm particularly interested in UCLA. However, I'm an ACT person, not SAT. Is the ACT widely accepted at UCLA? What are they generally looking for? Thanks a ton!

Hello! UCLA, similar to all the schools in the UC system, is test-blind for the 2024-2025 application cycle. This policy means that they will not consider your SAT or ACT scores during the admissions review process, regardless of whether you submit them or not. This shift in policy is designed to make college admissions more equitable for students from different backgrounds.

As a result, it's important to focus more your attention on the other components of your application. For instance, your high school grades, the rigor of your course load, and your personal essays will carry more weight in the admissions process. UCLA also values involvement in extracurricular activities. Generally, a strong application will show both academic excellence and depth of engagement outside the classroom.

For your essays, ensure you're telling a compelling personal story. UCLA wants to learn about who you are beyond just your academics—your passions, your values, your ambitions, and more.

Hope this helps, and best of luck with your application!
