Does anyone know the GPA requirements for UC Irvine?

Hey community, I'm planning to apply to the University of California Irvine and I'm wondering if anyone knows the GPA requirements they're looking for. Really trying to plan out my senior year wisely!

Hey there! While UC Irvine, like other UC schools, doesn't necessarily have a set GPA requirement for admission, they do have a certain baseline which is required for California residents and non-residents: a 3.0 GPA for California residents and a 3.4 GPA for non-resident students.

However, it's important to keep in mind that these are only the minimum GPA requirements to apply. The admissions process is competitive and the average GPA of admitted students is usually much higher. As per the most recent data, the average high school GPA of UC Irvine's freshmen was a 4.0. This indicates that successful applicants typically have A averages in high school.

It's also worth remembering that UC schools calculate GPA using only grades from a-g courses taken in 10th and 11th grades, although they will consider your 9th grade and 12th grade coursework in relation to the rest of your application.

Plan your senior year with a balance of rigor and achievable grades to keep up your GPA, and keep in mind your other application components as well. Good luck!
