GPA Expectations for University of Vermont

Okay, so I've been hyping myself up to apply to UVM and I was wondering what the GPA requirements look like. Does anyone have any idea of what they typically look for in an applicant's GPA?

Hello! When it comes to GPA expectations for University of Vermont (UVM), it's safe to say they're looking for a strong academic profile. For the most recent incoming class, the average GPA was a 3.8 on an unweighted 4.0 scale.

Certainly, having a GPA that falls around this number is advantageous. However, the University of Vermont reviews applications holistically, meaning they take into consideration other factors beyond just your GPA such as your extracurricular activities, leadership experiences, and your personal essays. A strong performance in all these areas can generally support a slightly lower GPA.

Finally, the rigor of your course load can impact how your GPA is viewed. AP, IB, and honors courses are more challenging and a B in an AP course, for example, may be viewed more favorably than an A in a standard course. It’s important to challenge yourself academically, and colleges notice when students take on the hardest courses available to them.

I hope this clarifies it a bit for you! Keep in mind though that while GPA is certainly important, it's not the only factor in your application. Good luck with your application process!
