Required GPA for being admitted to Arizona State University (ASU)?

Hey, guys. I've been looking into ASU, but I'm getting mixed signals about what sort of GPA they're looking for. Anyone on here have any advice or personal experiences? I'd appreciate anything you can share.

When it comes to Arizona State University (ASU), the freshman admission standards provide a comprehensive guideline. According to their admissions webpage, for Arizona residents, ASU generally looks for at least a 3.00 secondary GPA in the 16 core courses. For out-of-state and international students, they typically require a 3.00 GPA in those same core courses.

However, keep in mind that these are minimum requirements, and being competitive might require a higher GPA. Looking at the profile of accepted students, the average high school GPA of incoming freshmen at ASU is around 3.55.

It's also worth noting that ASU admissions take more factors into account than just GPA. Your ACT/SAT scores, the rigor of your high school courses, your community service, leadership skills, and personal qualities are all considered as parts of your application.

So, while GPAs can give you a general idea, remember that admissions often look at the whole person and not just the numerical pieces of their application. Taking part in extracurricular activities, developing leadership experiences and honing your essay writing skills are equally viable ways to strengthen your application.
