SAT Test End Time: When Can I Finally Relax?

Hey, I'm planning a little celebration with friends for after my SAT (hopefully to celebrate a job well done!). Anyway, roughly what time does the SAT usually end, taking into account potential delays and unexpected hiccups?

The new digital SAT, as of Spring 2024, has a testing duration of 134 minutes or around 2 hours and 15 minutes. This includes both the Reading/Writing and Math modules. However, this is just the examination time itself and does not include other elements such as check in, reading instructions, and potentially a short break.

Check-in can often take around 30 minutes, depending on the number of test-takers. It could be less if you are in a smaller testing center, but this time is usually allocated for distributing materials and settling into the test room.

Following check-in, there will be some time dedicated to reading instructions, which typically takes about 15 minutes. After the first module, there is often a short 10-minute break before resuming the test.

Please keep in mind that these times can vary based on the size of the testing center and the efficiency of the personnel running the test. Wi-Fi connectivity issues may also arise given the new digital format of the test.

If your test starts at 8:00 AM, for example, you can roughly expect to finish between 11:00 AM - 11:30 AM, given these times. However, to play it safe, you may want to tell your friends to expect you closer to 12:00 PM to account for any unexpected delays.

I wish you success on your SAT and a well-deserved celebration afterward! Let's hope it's a real bash!
