What's the typical weighted GPA for admitted students at MIT?

Hey guys, I'm feeling pretty nervous as I start to think of my chances at schools like MIT. Can someone share what a competitive weighted GPA looks like for MIT admits? Are my 4.3 WGPA/4.0 UWGPA in the ballpark, or do I need to step it up for senior year?

Hello! You're in great shape with a 4.3-weighted GPA and a perfect 4.0 unweighted GPA. MIT, like many top-tier institutions, tends to admit students with strong academic profiles. While MIT doesn't officially publish a typical weighted GPA for admitted students, it's well known that students with GPAs at the top end of their class tend to be very competitive. Your GPA certainly puts you in that range.

However, keep in mind that, since MIT uses a holistic admissions process, your GPA is just one factor. They will also consider your course rigor, extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation, essays, and standardized test scores where applicable. As long as the rest of your application is strong, you don't necessarily need to 'step it up' for your senior year, but it's always good practice to maintain your academic rigor and performance. Best of luck with your application!
