Anxiety Over College Acceptance Letters

This is always on my mind lately. Does anyone know when do colleges typically send out their acceptance letters? Is there a certain month that I should be particularly worried about?

While it's natural to feel apprehensive during this process, it's important to remember that decision release timings can vary greatly depending on the type of application you've submitted (Early Decision, Early Action, Regular Decision, etc) and the school that you've applied to.

For Early Decision (ED) and Early Action (EA) applicants, colleges often release admissions decisions in mid-December. If you're an ED or EA applicant, this is a time that you might want to keep an eye on your emails or the college's admissions portal.

For Regular Decision (RD) applicants, most colleges typically release their decisions between late March and early April. Some colleges, however, may also release decisions on a rolling basis, meaning that they make decisions on applications as and when they are submitted, rather than waiting for deadlines to make all decisions at once. In that case, you might get your decision earlier than March-April.

So, in essence, there isn't a specific month to be "particularly worried about". Expect to be notified in December if you've applied early, and in March-April if you've applied in Regular Decision. Additionally, new updates or changes to decision release dates are usually posted on a college's admissions website – keeping an eye on that site should help you stay up-to-date.

Remember, no news doesn't necessarily mean bad news and every application is different. Be patient, it's a stressful time, but you've done the most difficult part already - submitting your application. Best of luck!
