What are the usual ACT scores for U of Wisconsin?

Hey all! I am trying to create a buffer for my ACT score. What are the average ACT scores for admitted students at the University of Wisconsin? Is the college test-optional, or is it better to have high scores? Much thanks!

University of Wisconsin, Madison (UW Madison) has a middle 50% ACT range of 28-32 for admitted students, which means that half of its students have ACT scores within this range. However, remember that 25% score below 28 and another 25% score above 32.

UW Madison is also test-optional for the 2024-2025 application cycle, indicating that you have the choice whether or not to submit your ACT or SAT scores when you apply. That said, if your ACT score falls within or above their middle 50% range, it could be beneficial to submit your scores, as it shows you're academically competitive.

However, if your ACT score falls below the 25th percentile, and the rest of your application is strong, you could opt not to submit it. Keep in mind that admissions officers will then place heavier weight on other parts of your application like GPA, course rigor, extracurricular activities, and essays.

In the end, you'll need to consider your own application as a whole and think about where your strengths lie. If your ACT score is a strength, submit it. If not, you have the flexibility to leave it out. Good luck with your application!
