Help understanding what the APES class entails?

Hi all, I'm trying to finalize my schedule for next year and I'm curious about AP Environmental Science (APES). What exactly does it cover and how tough is it compared to other AP courses? If anyone with experience could give some insights, I would really appreciate it.

AP Environmental Science is a course that explores the complex interrelationships between human societies and the natural environment. It touches on a variety of both scientific and societal issues, incorporating elements of biology, chemistry, geology, and even elements of social sciences to provide a comprehensive picture of how our world works.

Topics you can expect to cover in APES range from the basic principles of ecology, to more complex subjects like the impacts of human activity on biodiversity and global climate. Some of the specific areas you might study include atmospheric science, soil science, water resources, population dynamics, land use patterns, energy production and consumption, pollution, and much more.

As for difficulty, it really depends on the student's strengths, the teacher's style, and the specifics of the curriculum at your school. In general, students tend to find APES a bit less challenging than some other AP science courses like AP Chemistry or Physics, mainly because it involves less intense math and complex concepts. However, it still requires a solid understanding of scientific principles and a good deal of reading and studying, as is the case with any AP class.
