Hey guys, I'm an international student from Vietnam and I'm really trying to piece together my college applications. Does anyone have any recommendations for schools that have good resources or support programs for international students?
While most US colleges will have some level of support for international students, some go above and beyond.
For example, Purdue University in Indiana has a large and diverse international student body and offers a lot of resources for international students. They provide a comprehensive orientation program specifically designed for international student needs. They also have a dedicated International Students and Scholars office that provides a range of services from visa assistance to academic support.
The University of Southern California (USC) also boasts a vibrant international community and provides robust support through their Office of International Services. Along with focusing on practical matters, they also host a range of events and socials to help international students build community and feel at home.
Another great option is Dartmouth College. Although small in size, Dartmouth makes a great attempt to cater to its diverse student body, offering programs like the International Student Pre-Orientation. Dartmouth’s International students and scholars office is also very supportive in all aspects from visa processing to acclimating to life in the U.S.
In all cases, it's important to reach out to prospective schools and ask specific questions about the support they offer to see if it fits your needs. This includes both practical matters, like visa and immigration help, and personal support through advisory services and dedicated events designed for international student comfort and integration.
