What's an average ACT score these days?

Just took the ACT for the first time and I'm going to retake it. Can't figure out what a good goal score would be. What's the average ACT score students are getting these days? Any tips on improving my score are welcome as well!

The average ACT score tends to fluctuate slightly between years, but it's generally around a 20.7. As for establishing a good goal for your ACT, that likely depends on the colleges you're targeting. For more selective schools, you might aim to score above a 30, whereas a goal of mid-20s could potentially be competitive for less selective colleges. Keep in mind that colleges have different standards, so it might be a good idea to research the average ACT scores for admitted students at the schools you're interested in.

For improving your ACT score, a lot of it comes down to practice and understanding the structure of the test. Plan a study schedule and stick to it. Regular, focused study is far more effective than cramming in the weeks leading up to the test. Additionally, taking full-length practice tests can be quite beneficial. They can help familiarize you with the pace of the test and identify which sections you may need to focus on more. Finally, review your mistakes carefully; understanding why you got a question wrong is vital for avoiding similar mistakes in the future.

Good luck with your test preparation—stay consistent and focused!
