Cost for SAT?

Hi there, I'm pushing through my junior year and am beginning to look into college entrance exams. Does anyone know how much does taking the SAT cost? Trying to put things in perspective financially.

Taking the SAT can indeed be a financial consideration. As of the 2024-2025 academic year, the cost to register for the digital SAT is $68. However, there are additional fees for certain circumstances. For instance, registering by phone, changing your test date, or changing your test center each come with additional charges. It's good practice to register as early as possible to avoid any last-minute fees. To give you an example, late registration (about less than a month before the test date) comes with an additional $30 fee.

Bear in mind there can also be extra costs associated with taking the test, such as study materials or prep-courses if you choose to use them. However, there are also free resources available, like Khan Academy, that provide free SAT preparation courses.

There are also fee waivers available for students who demonstrate financial need, which cover the cost of registration for up to two SAT tests. The College Board's website provides more details on these waivers and how to apply for them. This might be something worth looking into if you're concerned about the cost. Always remember to plan ahead and consider all potential costs to minimize any surprises down the road.
