Signing up for AP Exams

Hi guys, I'm planning to take few AP exams this year to boost my college application. This might sound a bit naive, but I'm wondering how the whole signup process works? Do I have to register through my high school, or can I do it on my own? Thanks for helping out!

Hi there! You're right on track. It's essential to understand the signup process so that you can take your AP exams with no hitches.

To answer your question, the process typically involves your high school. You'll need to talk to the AP coordinator at your school, who is typically a counsellor or someone from the administration. They'll guide you through the specifics and help you register for the exams you've chosen.

Keep in mind, the school will need to order your exam materials, which is why they need to handle your registration. They'll also give you an AP student pack, which includes an AP number you'll use on test day. You'll receive an AP ID as well, which you'll use along with your AP number to view your scores online later on.

However, if your school does not offer the AP exams you're interested in, you have the option to test at a different school, but you'll still need to get in touch with an AP coordinator (at either your own school or the one you plan to test at) who will facilitate the process for you.

Remember that the deadline to register for AP exams usually falls in November for the exams taken in May of the following year, so be sure to plan ahead.

Best of luck with your AP exams! Let me know if you have any other questions.
