GPA Requirements for UC Davis

Hi folks, I am really interested in UC Davis and I'm just trying to figure out whether I'd be a good fit. What kind of high school GPA are they typically looking for? Does anyone have experience or knowledge about their GPA requirements?

UC Davis, like most colleges, doesn't have an explicit 'minimum GPA requirement', but it can be beneficial to understand the typical range of GPAs of admitted students. To put it into perspective, the UC Davis admitted students for the class of 2023 had a GPA (weighted and capped) between 4.03 - 4.28, meaning these students had excellent academic records.

Keep in mind that UC Davis uses a comprehensive review process, so while GPA is a major component, other aspects of your application, like extracurriculars, essays, and letters of recommendation (when requested), also bear significant weight. This allows the admissions committee to see a more rounded view of you as an applicant, rather than just your academic performance.

Academic rigor is another aspect UC Davis considers. Having a challenging coursework, including AP, IB or Honors classes, demonstrates that you're not only capable of maintaining high grades, but you're also pushing yourself acadically.

Remember, though, for the 2024-2025 application cycle, UC Davis is test-blind, which means they don't consider SAT or ACT scores at all. So, your GPA, along with your coursework, letters of recommendation, personal statements, and extracurriculars will play a larger role in your admissions decision. Good luck with your application process!
