Best Colleges for B Students?

Hey everyone. My GPA isn't sky-high, but I'm not quite ready to give up on the thought of college. Anyone know some solid colleges that are friendly towards B students? Particularly in liberal arts or social sciences. Thanks!

Absolutely! Many colleges appreciate the holistic strengths of students beyond GPA. B students can definitely find solid liberal arts and social sciences programs. Here are a few suggestions:

1. University of Massachusetts, Amherst (UMass Amherst): UMass Amherst offers a variety of programs in social sciences and is known for its excellent faculty in these areas.

2. Beloit College : This is a small liberal arts college in Wisconsin known for its strong programs in the social sciences, particularly sociology and anthropology.

3. Lewis & Clark College: Located in Portland, Oregon, this school is known for its programs in international relations and psychology. It features small classes and a strong emphasis on undergraduate research.

4. Ohio Wesleyan University: Known for its personal attention and unique program offerings in the humanities and social sciences, Ohio Wesleyan could be a great fit.

5. SUNY at Purchase College (Purchase College): For those interested in the intersection of social sciences with arts and creative studies, Purchase College in New York provides a multidisciplinary platform to explore and thrive in different arenas.

Bear in mind, each of these colleges will look at factors beyond your GPA to get a sense of who you are—essays, teacher recommendations, and your extracurricular involvement will all play a role in the admissions decision. Don't forget to visit these colleges (if you can), show some demonstrated interest, and work on crafting a personal, well-written essay that genuinely reflects your interest in the intended major. You can use the net price calculator on each school's site to get an estimate of the financial aid you would receive if you were to attend. Best of luck with everything!
