Hello everyone, I have my heart set on Princeton after visiting the campus last summer. My school doesn't do weighted GPAs, and I currently have a 3.9 unweighted GPA. Is this good enough for Princeton, or should I aim to raise it more in my senior year?
Princeton is indeed an elite academic institution and getting admitted is quite competitive. That being said, your 3.9 unweighted GPA is quite impressive and falls in the competitive range for Princeton applicants, although it is below the average. Recent data showed that most admitted students had an unweighted GPA of 3.95 or higher, so you are in a decent position.
However, while GPA is a crucial component of your application, keep in mind that Princeton uses a holistic review process, meaning that they look at all aspects of your application, not just GPA. They take into account your course rigor, extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation, and essays, alongside your GPA and potential test scores. So, while your GPA is competitive, make sure you're spending time on these other aspects of your application as well.
Good luck with your senior year and your application to Princeton!
