National Average ACT Score?

Just checking, but does anybody here know what the national average ACT score is? I think it'd be really helpful for me to know where I stand on a national level.

The national average ACT score as of recent is a 20.6. This is the average of all test-takers across the United States. However, remember that averages can be skewed by extreme values and may not represent the true performance of most students. It's also important to note that the average score can vary slightly year by year, but the general trend remains consistent.

Considering this average, it can be helpful to judge your own score and where you stand. However, when applying to colleges, you should consider not just national averages but also the average ACT scores at your target schools. Each college or university will have its own average ACT score for admitted students, and knowing these averages can give you a better sense of what score you should be aiming for. For example, a score of 28 may be above the national average, but it would be below average at a highly selective university.

Keep in mind that your ACT score is just one part of your application, and colleges use a holistic approach to admissions. They will also consider things like your GPA, coursework, extracurricular activities, essays, and letters of recommendation when making their decisions.
