Sophomore Pre-ACT scores, what's the norm?

Yo guys, I just took the Pre-ACT as a sophomore. What's a common score for someone in my grade? Thanks in advance!

Hello,

As a sophomore taking the Pre-ACT, it's typical to see scores ranging from about 17 to 24. This pretty wide range is due to the diverse curricular pace among students, since not everyone will be exposed to the same level of coursework in their sophomore year. But the primary purpose of the Pre-ACT isn't to get a particular score—it's more to give you an idea of what the real ACT will be like and to help you identify areas where you might need extra study or practice.

Essentially, the Pre-ACT lays the groundwork for goal-setting for the actual ACT. If you scored on the lower end, don't fret—you still have a lot of time to prepare before you'll take the ACT. Use your performance on the Pre-ACT to inform your test prep moving forward. Areas where you are currently scoring lower are good places to start in terms of preparing for the actual ACT.

Remember, the point of these tests isn't to pinpoint an exact score, but to help you strategize and plan out your study methods effectively. Good luck with your continued preparation!
