Measurement of a 1150 PSAT Score

So, I just received my PSAT scores and I scored a 1150. How should I interpret this score? Is it any good or do I need to work a bit more? What kind of SAT score can I estimate based on this? Any guidance would be super appreciated.

Your 1150 PSAT score is a solid foundation, but depending on your college aspirations, you might want to set higher targets. The score is roughly an average PSAT score (the average being between 950 to 1060), so it suggests you have a good grasp of the base concepts tested in the PSAT.

Estimating your SAT score from the PSAT score is not exactly 1-to-1, but it's in the ballpark. An 1150 PSAT score is estimated to be close to an 1180 on the SAT. While this is an estimation, actual SAT scores can be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors like, differences in test structure, pressure, and test-day performance.

To improve your score, focused studying targeting your weak areas can help. Using resources such as Khan Academy or the Bluebook™ app for practice problems can really provide an edge. In addition, taking full-length practice tests will not only help familiarize you with the test layout, but also help identify areas where you may need further review.

Remember, while standardized test scores do play a role in college admissions, they are just one piece of the puzzle. Factors like a strong GPA, well-crafted personal essays, and robust extracurricular involvement are equally, if not more, important. All the best with your test preparations!
