Best dates to take ACT?

Hello folks, I'm planning to take the ACT soon. Do you know when would be the best dates considering my senior year workload and application deadlines? I'd do better if I pace myself out. Thanks!

The optimal time to take the ACT primarily depends on your college application timeline. Usually, it's advisable to attempt the ACT the latest by the spring of junior year. This allows for ample time to retake the test in case you're not satisfied with your initial score, without having to worry about application deadlines.

For seniors, the last possible ACT testing date that allows scores to reach colleges by the regular decision deadlines (usually January 1) is typically in October. However, be sure to cross-check the reporting timelines with your specific college's deadline as some schools may need the scores earlier.

Also note, taking the test earlier in the fall gives you a buffer to retest if necessary. The ACT is usually offered seven times a year—in February, April, June, July, September, October, and December. It could therefore be beneficial to plan for the ACT in September or October. You would then receive your scores by October or November respectively, allowing time to retake the December session if needed.

Keep in mind that studying for standardized tests can be time-intensive and may interfere with your senior year academics and college applications. Balancing your load well is key. All the best!
