Compiling all maths formulas

Exams are coming up and I'm thinking of making a single document with all the maths formulas I'll need. Has anyone done this before? Is it worth the effort? Any tips would be a lifesaver.

Responding as a college admissions counselor:

It's certainly a good strategy to have all of the necessary formulas in one place. While working on problem sets and studying for exams, it could really help you get a comprehensive view of all the different types of problems you are required to solve and the formulas you need for them.

A few tips on how to go about it:

1. Organize: Structure the list in a way that makes sense for you. It could be based on the classes you've taken, from Algebra to Calculus, or based on specific topics like Geometry, Trigonometry, etc. You could even have a separate section for general mathematics principles or identities.

2. Keep it Clean: Make sure the document is neatly organized and each formula is clearly written. To differentiate between different formulas and subjects, use different font styles or highlight different areas.

3. Add Examples: With each formula, consider including a sample problem. That way, not only will you have a record of each formula, but you'll have a reference for how and when to use it.

4. Review Regularly: Simply writing these formulas down will not suffice. Periodic review is crucial for retention.

5. Make it Evolving: This document should keep evolving according to your needs. As you progress in various classes, you may find that you need to add more complex formulas.

Creating such a document will reinforce your memory and put you in good stead for quick revisions before the examinations. This practice can also be a lifesaver beyond the exams, potentially even being useful in future courses and career applications where these formulas might come in handy.
