When are AP exams typically scheduled?

Hey everyone, so I was just wondering when AP exams usually take place? I'm trying to map out my study schedule and having a better idea of when these exams start would be really helpful. Thanks!

AP exams are typically scheduled over a two-week period in May each year. The exact dates depend on the particular exam. For example, in May 2022, the first week of exams began on May 2nd and ran through May 6th, while the second week started on May 9th and ended on May 13th.

Each day has a morning exam session that begins at 8 a.m. and an afternoon session that starts at 12 p.m. Depending on the exam, students could be testing for 2–3 hours.

Keep in mind that these are general timeframes and the dates may vary slightly from year to year. The College Board usually releases the specific schedules at the beginning of the school year.

For your study plan, it would be best to start reviewing the material a few months in advance. Closer to the exam, focus more on practice tests to get a feel for the exam structure and timing.

To learn more about the particular AP exam(s) you're taking, including content and structure, as well as when they'll be taking place, I'd check out CollegeVine's blog, which contains comprehensive breakdowns of many of the most popular AP exams. Remember to also plan for rest days and breaks during your study sessions. Consciously incorporating breaks will prevent burnout and keep you focused during your preparation period. Good luck with your prep!
