Ideal SAT Scores for Northwestern University

Hey guys, Northwestern is one of my dream schools and I'm doing my best to prepare for the SAT. Does anyone know what's the typical SAT score range Northwestern looks for? Exactly how high should I aim? Of course, I know that admission isn't solely about SAT scores, but I wanna make sure I can at least check that box off, ya know?

When it comes to Northwestern University, this institution is one of the more competitive ones, so it's understandable that you want to optimize your SAT score. As of their most recent class profile, Northwestern University's middle 50% SAT range falls between 1500-1560. This means that 50% of admitted students scored within this range.

Generally speaking, aiming for a score at or above the 75th percentile is a good strategy when considering SAT scores for selective schools like Northwestern. However, an applicant with an SAT score of 1560 or higher does not automatically get admitted to Northwestern, and an applicant with lower than a 1500 isn't immediately eliminated.

In addition to a strong SAT score, excellent grades in rigorous coursework, engaging essays, solid extracurricular involvement, and glowing recommendation letters also have a major role in moving the needle in your favor for Northwestern University's selective admissions process. Hope this helps, and best of luck in your college prep journey!
