When's A Good Time To Register For ACT?

Hey everyone! I've decided to take the ACT, but I'm a little lost on the best registration dates. When should I ideally register for it? And are there any key ACT dates or deadlines I should know about in order to prepare effectively? Any advice will be extremely beneficial!

Hello! As for registering for the ACT, you'll want to do that around 3-5 weeks before your desired test date. Registration typically opens for all test dates in the academic year in the preceding summer. Keep an eye on the ACT's official website to know when that happens for your specific year.

For each test date, note there’s a "regular" registration deadline about five weeks prior to the test date, and a "late" registration (with late fee) that's about three weeks before the test date.

Knowing when you want to take the ACT is also key here. Consider your school schedule, other standardized tests, and college application deadlines. Many high schoolers aim to take the ACT in the spring of their junior year and, if necessary, again in the summer before their senior year or in the early fall of their senior year.

Before registering for a test, make sure you can dedicate time to prepare. A typical timeframe would be 2-3 months of consistent study prior to the test. The more time you allow for prep, the better position you'll be in to achieve your target score.

Remember, all these dates vary every year so it's best to check with the official ACT organization website for the most accurate and updated information.

Wishing you all the best with your preparation!
