Conversion Between SAT Score to ACT

Hi everyone, I've taken the SAT but some of the schools I'm interested in prefer the ACT. Is there an accurate way or tool to convert my SAT score to ACT? Would love to know, thanks!

Absolutely, there are concordance tables available that provide equivalent scores between the SAT and ACT. The College Board and ACT have cooperatively published these tables.

Just one thing though, keep in mind that these are approximations and can vary slightly from school to school and year to year. The range is generally accurate, but some colleges might interpret the scores a bit differently.

For example, an SAT score of 1560-1590 roughly translates to an ACT score of 35-36. To give another example, an SAT score of 1460-1490 would approximately be equivalent to an ACT score of 33.

Keep in mind colleges that accept both tests generally do not prefer one over the other. You should verify from the specific college's admissions website to see if they have a preference between the ACT or SAT.

While using the concordance tables can give you a good gauge, your best bet for determining your likely ACT score is to actually take an official ACT practice test under test-like conditions - it will be more precise and may also reveal specific areas you'll want to study or practice more before the actual test.
