What is the percentile of a 1400 SAT score?

Just got my SAT score and it's 1400. Not bad, but wondering if anyone knows where this falls in terms of percentiles? Aiming high with my college applications, so trying to figure out where I stand!

A 1400 is indeed a competitive SAT score. When it comes to percentiles, they can vary slightly from year to year, but generally, a 1400 SAT score places you at approximately the 94th percentile of all test takers. That means you scored higher than 94% of other students taking the SAT.

It's worth noting that while a 1400 is excellent overall, the competitiveness of this score can vary depending on the colleges you're considering. For highly selective colleges, students typically have average SAT scores that are even higher. For example, the average SAT score for admitted students at the likes of Harvard or MIT often hovers around 1500.

However, while a strong SAT score can definitely bolster your application, remember to focus on other parts of your application as well. Admission officers look at a wide range of factors beyond just your SAT score, such as your academic grades, extracurricular involvement, essays, and letters of recommendation. They’re looking for students who will contribute to their campus in a meaningful way, both academically and socially, so a holistic mix of academic achievements and active involvement in your community is ideal.
