What's the ACT requirement for UCLA?

I am finally honing down my college list, and UCLA is one of my top choices. How much do I need to score on the ACT to consider my application competitive for UCLA? Is there a strict cutoff?

For the 2024-2025 application cycle, UCLA, like other UC schools, is test-blind, meaning they do not consider SAT or ACT scores at all in their admissions process. Therefore, there is no ACT requirement or cutoff to be considered competitive at UCLA.

Instead, UCLA places great emphasis on other components of your application, including your high school transcript (grades, the rigor of your courses, improvement over time), your personal essays, and your extracurricular activities. They're interested in not only your academic potential but also your personal qualities—your grit, determination, leadership skills, and how you contribute to your community, to name a few. It's important to focus on these areas to present a strong and well-rounded application.

Since ACT and SAT scores are no longer considered, it's beneficial to use the time you would have spent studying for these tests on strengthening aspects of your application that UCLA does consider. For example, you might want to spend more time engaging with and leading your extracurricular activities, or you could use this time to develop your essays and ensure they clearly convey your unique experiences and perspectives.
