Acceptance Rate for UNC: What am I Dealing With?

Help a junior out? I'm really focusing on UNC for college and just wanted to get some real-time data. Does anyone know the latest acceptance rate for UNC? I've heard it's pretty tough to get in, so any insights would be gold. Cheers!

Hey, good question! University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) does have a fairly competitive admissions process. As of the most recent data, the overall acceptance rate for UNC Chapel Hill hovered around 19%. You're right, it can be tough to get in, especially for out-of-state students since UNC has a mandate to admit a large percentage of in-state students.

Just a little advice: remember that acceptance rates aren't the end-all-be-all. It's more helpful to look at the average GPA and test scores of admitted students. As of recently, the middle 50% for SAT scores was 1360-1510 and 28-34 for ACT scores. For GPA, the average admitted student had a high school GPA in the range of 4.5 on a weighted scale.

In addition to academics, UNC values well-rounded students who demonstrate leadership, are involved in their communities, and can bring diverse perspectives. Keep these factors in mind as you craft your application. Good luck, I hope you find this helpful!
