UC Berkeley Average GPA

Hey all! I'm kinda stressed cause Berkeley is my dream school, but my GPA isn't amazing. Does anyone know what the average GPA for admission is?

UC Berkeley, like most high-rated institutions, has generally higher standards when it comes to the GPAs of accepted students. The middle 50% high school GPA range for admitted students for fall 2023 ranged from about 4.28 to 4.62 on a weighted scale. While this might sound intimidating, don't let it deter you.

Remember that Berkeley, like other UC schools, follows a comprehensive review process where they consider aspects outside of your GPA. They will also review your extracurriculars, leadership roles, personal statements, and any other aspects that could positively portray your abilities, passion, and commitment.

That being said, if your GPA falls below this range, it's essential to make other parts of your application stand out. Highlight any unique aspects of your extracurricular involvement, especially if you have a Tier 1 or Tier 2 activity. And, of course, put a lot of time and effort into your essays to make your application more competitive.

It's also worth noting that if you faced any significant hardships that impacted your academic performance and consequently your GPA, UC Berkeley allows you to communicate those in the additional comments section of the application.

Remember, this is only data for a past application cycle, and admission standards may change so always check the most recent data if available. Always aim to present the best application cycle possible, regardless of average GPA stats!
