Boston University Admission Rate?

Hi everyone, I'm a junior and BU is one of the colleges on my list. I've heard it's pretty competitive. Does anybody have any idea about the current admissions rate? And perhaps, any tips for boosting my shot at acceptance?

The most recent data suggests that the acceptance rate at Boston University (BU) hovers around 11%, making it indeed a competitive institution to gain admission to. However, this percentage can fluctuate slightly year by year depending on the applicant pool.

As for increasing your chances, it goes without saying that strong academics are integral. Aim for a GPA as close to 4.0 as possible, and if your school values classes on a weighted scale due to honors or AP courses, pursuing those for an even higher GPA might show BU your academic commitment and rigor. If you're taking the SAT or ACT, aim for scores within the higher end of their middle range or ideally, even above it.

Emphasizing your 'spike', or specialized interest/achievement, can also improve your chances. BU, like many top universities, prefers students who show commitment and significant accomplishment in one to two areas over those who are just mildly involved in many activities. This could mean leadership in a club, regional or national recognition in a competition, or organizing a major community service project in your field of interest.

Finally, putting genuine effort into your essays is crucial. Make sure to personalize and tailor your responses to BU specifically, showing your fit and enthusiasm for the school and its programs. Relay your achievements and experiences in a compelling way that demonstrates your potential contribution to the BU community. Instead of writing about common or generic topics, delve into unique or deeply personal areas that will make you stand out and be remembered by the admissions committee.

Lastly, applying Early Decision could potentially boost your chances, but do bear in mind it's a binding agreement, so only consider this option if BU is truly your first choice and you've considered the financial aspect as well.
