Hey, does anyone on here know the specific GPA requirements for the Bright Futures Scholarship? I'm a junior from Florida and I'm trying to plan ahead to meet all the requirements.
The Florida Bright Futures Scholarship has different GPA requirements based on the specific level of the scholarship you're aiming for. There are two main scholarships: the Florida Academic Scholars (FAS) and the Florida Medallion Scholars (FMS).
For the FAS award, as the highest level of Bright Futures, you will need at least a 3.5 weighted GPA. Note that this calculation only includes grades received in specific, eligible high school courses. In addition, you also need to complete at least 100 hours of approved community service and achieve a minimum score of 1330 on the SAT or 29 on the ACT.
For the FMS award, you will need at least a 3.0 weighted GPA using the same eligible high school courses. For this level, you also must complete at least 75 hours of approved community service and get a minimum score of 1210 on the SAT or 25 on the ACT.
Remember, the calculation of your weighted GPA will only consider specific "core" academic classes. This includes subjects such as English, math, natural science, social science, and world language.
Best of luck in your preparation!
