What's a competitive GPA for Baruch College admissions?

Hi guys, I'm currently working hard on my GPA and I'm interested in Baruch College. Does anyone know what kind of GPA I should aim for to increase my chances? Are they more forgiving on lower GPAs if you have strong extracurriculars?

Baruch College, part of the City University of New York (CUNY), is a moderately selective institution. For a competitive edge in your application, it's generally recommended to aim for a GPA of around 3.3 or above. This is based on the fact that the average cumulative high school GPA of students admitted to Baruch College tends to be in the range of 3.3 - 3.6.

However, it's important to note that Baruch College, like most other higher education institutions, takes into account multiple factors apart from the GPA. Your standardized test scores, high school coursework rigor, and extracurricular activities all matter too. While a solid GPA is integral to a strong application, Baruch College does consider the whole student profile.

With that in mind, if your GPA falls slightly short, strong extracurricular activities can potentially soften the impact. Especially if you hold leadership positions or have unique achievements in those activities (think Tier 1 and Tier 2 extracurricular activities), they can help demonstrate your character, initiative, and dedication. For instance, being a student body president or winning a statewide debate competition would count more than being a general member of a club.

Also, it's worthwhile to mention that if there are any extenuating circumstances that affected your GPA, you might want to consider explaining this in the additional information section of your application. This would provide context to the admissions committee when reviewing your profile.

So to sum up, strive hard for a good GPA but also look into honing your skills and experiences beyond academics to paint a well-rounded picture of yourself. Good luck with your journey!
